Dr. Simon A. Koblar
BMBS FRACP PhD (Melb)
Dr. Koblar is a senior consultant
neurologist at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital and a Senior Lecturer
in Medicine at the University of Adelaide. His clinical interests
are general neurology and in particular stroke.
He has an active research program
in genetic risk factors and neural stem cell therapeutics in relation
to stroke.
Dr. Koblar undertook his medical
training at Flinders University and trained as a neurologist at
TQEH and Guy’s Hospital, London, UK. His PhD was undertaken
at The Walter and Eliza Hall Institute for Medical Research in Melbourne.
He was a research fellow at The University of Washington in Seattle,
USA.
He returned to Adelaide in 1996
and combines a limited clinical practice with research and teaching.
He is married to a General Practitioner and has four children.
